Say hello to our Head Chef, Grant Raw!
Local lad with a passion for seafood returns to Cumbria to work in a family run business as head chef.
Grant Raw grew up in Wetheral, left to pursue his career in catering and has recently returned to Cumbria to take up the role of head chef at La Casa Verde, Melkinthorpe, Cumbria.
Having spent the last ten years working for seafood restaurant Loch Fyne, Grant is bringing his passion and knowledge of seafood to enhance the pescatarian menu.
“I believe La Casa Verde has massive potential to grow and develop and I am particularly excited at the opportunities this will bring. Working with the head gardener at Larch Cottage and being able to plan the crops and their rotation in the organic kitchen garden will enable us to provide true seasonal menus with the freshest of ingredients throughout the year. From plot to plate need be no longer than the time it takes to pick, prepare and create!”
Grant is inspired by both his passion for food and his love of Italy; his recently introduced Autumn, Winter and Festive menus draw from this. Using fresh, local quality ingredients Grant creates uncomplicated, unfussy dishes bursting with vibrancy and colour, very much like Larch Cottage itself.
