ORDERS

The receipt of a website or catalogue order by Larch Cottage Nurseries from you, the customer, constitutes an offer to purchase goods upon the terms and conditions below.

We have a minimum order of £19.99 exclusive of carriage.

All orders are subject to availability of stock.

The description of the goods and images on the website aim to show a clear representation of the goods, but please appreciate that plants do vary so images and descriptions are to be used as a guide.

The pot-size of plants on the website is intended as a guide for carriage purposes only. Although we do endeavour to provide plants as close as possible in pot-size to those displayed please understand that mistakes, though rare,  can happen – we are only human! If you would like us to confirm the exact pot size of your plant if it does indeed differ from that stated,  then please mention that in the ‘comments about your order’ box at the bottom of the Delivery Information page.

Please note that the height stated in the plant description is the plant growth in 10 years or the plants ultimate height, not the height as sold.

Prices on the website may be subject to slight variation depending on the age and size of plant ordered. However if the price increases between the date we accept your order and the delivery date we will let you know and ask you to confirm by email that the new price is acceptable. If it is not acceptable then you will, of course, have the option of cancelling your order.

PAYMENT

Secure payment is taken via WorldPay.

Email notification is sent on day of despatch

DESPATCH

We send out orders from September through to the end of May/June. We aim to dispatch orders within one week of receipt of said order, although in some circumstances, particularly during very busy times, this may not be possible.

We reserve the right to delay dispatch of goods if weather conditions are severe i.e. during periods of severe drought or extreme cold. We are not responsible for delays which occur during any 3rd party strike action.

We use a courier service to dispatch our goods and larger orders may necessitate the use of a pallet. We will always contact you if this is required.

Please allow 2/3 working days from dispatch of the plants for delivery to yourself.

In certain circumstances we do use recycled packaging as part of our ethos to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

SIGNATURE

A signature is required upon delivery unless instructions are given upon ordering for the parcel to be left in a safe place – i.e., greenhouse. Parcels left in pre-arranged places are entirely at the customer’s risk.

CANCELLED ORDERS

Although we do accept that things change and sometimes orders are cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, we do reserve the right to implement a 10% charge of the total order for those which are cancelled.

We are happy to source plants for people but as you will appreciate this takes time and effort and as such, once sourced these goods are non-cancellable.

SPLIT ORDERS

It may be at times that we are unable to fulfil your complete order due to the nature of our business and the growing seasons. In this case we will supply all plants available and your carriage charges will be amended as appropriate. Any plants not supplied can be put on a back–order and despatched at a later date should you wish. Our mail order department will contact you if this is the case. Additional carriage charges will apply.

RETURNS

If in the unlikely event you are unhappy with the quality of plants you receive then please contact us, providing a picture where possible, within 24 hours of receipt of goods. You have seven days in which to return your goods and any returns are at the customers expense and must reach us in good condition in the *original packaging. Due to the perish-ability of the goods, during the growing season i.e. April to September goods should be returned using a next day delivery service. We will not accept goods returned damaged because of inadequate packaging.

DAMAGED PARCELS

If you receive a parcel which is damaged upon delivery, then please refuse to accept and the courier will return the parcel straight to us. If you do accept the parcel or find it damaged when left by the courier whilst you are out, then please take a picture of the damaged parcel and email it straight to us at plants@larchcottage.co.uk, giving your full name and order number.

*In the unlikely event that your parcel is damaged during delivery and you are unable to return the goods in the original packaging due to this damage, then we reasonably expect you, the consumer, to provide sufficient packaging to enable the plant to be returned to us via our courier.

REPACKING CHARGE

If your parcels are packed and ready to go but for some reason beyond our control i.e. declined card payment, or last minute change of required delivery date which results in the order having to be unpacked and then re-packed at a later date, we do reserve the right to charge a re-packing charge of £10 per box.

SENDING ORDERS ABROAD

We are really sorry to our European friends who we have dealt with for years and years but Brexit and the amount of red tape has put an end to all exports for us.

POTTING ON TIME IN THE NURSERY!
As a true working nursery, propagating and growing on our own plants, it may be that occasionally plants which have recently been potted will be despatched by our mail order department.

If this is the case then please check the roots are visible at the bottom of the pot before planting out.

Alternatively because of the inevitable backlog which can occur when we are potting on so many plants, it may be that  some of our plants – mainly perennials – are supplied in P9 (9 cm) pots

These plants will be fully rooted into the pot and able to be planted out although will need protection from cold and frost or could be kept in a greenhouse or similar until weather conditions are suitable. Please indicate when ordering if you do not wish to receive P9’s

PLEASE NOTE:
We cannot be responsible for weather conditions or after care of plants following delivery.

Perennials and shrubs will be cut back if this is judged to be beneficial to the plant whilst in transit; this does not harm the plant in anyway.

At certain times of the year, particularly during the winter months it may be that we can offer savings on our carriage charges by sending out plants bare-root  – If this is possible then we will contact you before despatch.

DESPATCHING PERENNIALS OVER WINTER

We are more than happy to despatch perennials during the winter months but bring to your attention the fact that these will not be big, bushy plants, in fact there will not be much to see from the top of the pot at all – although the roots will have been checked and be perfectly healthy.

Despite this, there are advantages to planting your perennials during the winter months – they will not need any watering, they can put their roots out in the milder weather ensuring that they are settled in your borders by the time Spring does appear.

However, do make sure that soil is not too wet when planting and if your soil is heavy clay then better to not plant until later when spring starts. Common sense tells us that you do not plant when the soil is frozen and always give new plants plenty of compost or a good organic mulch when planting. If the weather is so cold that you can’t plant then leave it outside in its pot and plant when things warm up.

NURSERY COLLECTION

We do offer a nursery collection service. Please make this clear on your order form.  Please allow at least 24 to 48 hours from placing the order to requested collection date. You will be contacted to confirm your collection is ready.

We are open 7 days a week from 10 to 5 (till dusk in winter)

We will reserve plants for 2 weeks from order. Please let us know via email – plants@larchcottage.co.uk or phone the office on  01931 712 404 if you are unable to collect your plants within that time. .

PLANTS OVER 8FT IN HEIGHT

We are able to send out plants over 8ft in height but please be aware: Any plant over 8ft tall incurs a courier surcharge of £10 per item  – Our mail order department would always contact you to inform you before this surcharge is applied to your order. We are happy to offer this over height service but please note that Larch Cottage will not take responsibility for any damage which may occur to the plant during transit due to the height.

HIGHLANDS AND ISLANDS

Highlands and Islands, Ireland or overseas – Delivery times and costs may vary depending on distance and courier charges. Please contact us if you would like to discuss this further.
