Moltkia doerfleri

Native to north-east Albania. An unusual and uncommon herbaceous perennial making clumps of slender leafy upright stems to 18ins (50cms). The pendent flowers are comfrey-like, blackcurrant purple colour and produced in spring. Flws: May-Jun. Understated but very easy. Any fertile soil in sun.
