Arbutus unedo ‘Compacta’

This is an evergreen shrub producing small white urn-shaped flws in the Autumn followed by 3/4″ orange-red strawberry like fruit, edible but tasteless. The bark is brown with many fissure and shreds off leaving a fibrous texture and twists and gnarls as it ages. Ht 5ft in 10 yrs, sp 5ft. Leaves glossy and oval. Likes sun or part shade, fertile, humus rich soil.
