Nicholas Marsh is a ceramic artist whose practice is shaped by a lifetime of making, travelling, and living in a variety of places around the world, each leaving a distinct influence on his work. He studied 3D Ceramics-based Design in Lancaster and has since developed an internationally informed practice that continues to evolve through experience and place.
His work encompasses both high and low temperature-fired vessels and sculptural forms. Each piece is carefully textured and glazed, then fired in kilns that actively contribute to the final surface, where flame, heat, and material interact to create richly expressive finishes.
Marsh is currently based in England in a former mining village where his family history is rooted. This sense of personal and ancestral connection to place informs his practice, which he describes as “making again under ancestral skies.” His recent work reflects a renewed engagement with the British Neolithic, exploring early human relationships with landscape, sky, and monument through ceramic form.
