A male sea buckthorn. A large, semi-evergreen shrub with upright, rounded, bushy and very thorny habit, ideally suited as a burglar- or stock-proof hedge in coastal gardens. The long, lance-shaped leaves are silvery-green. Tiny whitish-yellow flowers are borne in April, before the leaves. Ht 4m +. Any light, well-drained soil, even poor, sandy or chalky soils. Full sun.
