Vaccinium delavayi

An attractive species with it red-tinted young shoots. Evergreen shrub of compact habit. Small leathery leaves. Racemes of creamy white flws, flushed pink, early summer followed by deep crimson berries. Flws on older plants. South-western China and upper Burma, on rocks, cliffs. Needs a sheltered spot as young growth can be frost damaged. Ht 1-2ft, eventually 3-4ft, slow. Acid soil, part shade.
