Styrax japonica ‘Snowcone’

A beautiful flowering tree from Japan with conical, symmetrical habit. The new bark is smooth with a grey-brown shading, maturing to an orange-brown colour and features a fissured appearance. Clusters of nodding, bell-shaped, white flowers bloom along the undersides of the branches in summer. The fine textured and dark green foliage turns brilliant yellow in autumn. Humus-rich, free-draining, lime-free soil in sun or semi-shade, sheltered from cold winds. Unlike other Styrax trees in the family, Snowcone does not suffer from annual twig dieback in the spring.
