Sambucus nigra ‘Serenade’

New leaves emerge purple brown then turn bronze to golden yellow and end up light green. The shrub thus shows different shades simultaneously, giving it a shimmery effect. Plant in a sunny position to show off all these colours at their best. In the autumn the leaves turn purple again. Small creamy white inflorescences, May-Jun contrast with the foliage, followed by black berries summer/autumn.Ht 1.5m (5ft). Any reasonable soil.
