Nyssa sylvatica ‘Zydeco Twist’

The Zydeco Twist Black Gum, or Tupelo, tree is a unique selection with contorted branches. Excellent autumn colour the leaves changing from green/orange quickly to red. The brilliant display is better than many of the maple cultivars. prefers acidic soils including heavy clay but will grow in neutral to slightly alkaline/chalky conditions. On drier soils, keep well watered in dry spells and keep young trees irrigated during establishment. The black gum tree is good in partial shade as well as open situations.
