Corylus avellana ‘Kentish Cobb’

Hazel nut/ filbert. A large fruiting form. Deciduous shrub with heart-shaped, mid-green leaves to 14cm (5.5in) long. Pendent yellow catkins 5-8cm (2-3in) long in late winter. Long, flat nuts, covered by tubular husks are borne in clusters of 2-5. Excellent flavour as a fresh nut, Sept-Oct. Ht 3-4m.
