Acer Palmatum Tsuma Gaki is a medium sized acer with soft, lush green leaves with ‘painted’ tips of red in spring and summer turning vibrant red in the autumn. Tsumagaki grows to a height of 2 to 3 metres. As wide as it is tall, the tree usually reaches a width of 3 metres when fully grown. In the early spring, the unusual leaves emerge in cupped shapes that resemble buds. As the leaves unfurl, they take on a soft yellow hue with a reddish outline. Upon maturity, the leaves turn a light green colour with ‘painted’ tips of red. In the autumn, the leaves change to a brilliant eye-catching crimson red.
