Silvia Borgogni is an Italian printmaker and painter whose practice centres on traditional engraving techniques. Trained at the Istituto d’Arte di Siena and through specialist courses at Il Bisonte in Florence, the Kaus International Center for Artistic Engraving in Urbino, and the Bottega del Tintoretto in Venice, she has dedicated herself to printmaking since 2000. Working primarily in etching and linocut, she also explores lithography and monotype, producing and printing her own editions.
Borgogni’s work encompasses landscapes, still lifes, nudes and imaginative figures, combining technical precision with a poetic sensibility. Alongside her artistic practice, she trained as a conservator of wall and canvas paintings and has taught art since 2011. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in Florence, Barcelona, Sofia, Łódź and the UK.
The works presented here are Stampa Acquaforte/Acquarellata (etchings with watercolour), a technique in which an original etching is printed from an acid-etched metal plate and then individually enhanced with hand-applied watercolour, giving each impression its own unique character.
