Sandrine Barbecot was born in France and has led a nomadic life shaped by her career. She remains deeply connected to the volcanic landscapes of central France, where she eventually settled, as well as to the Alps—her enduring playground for an outdoor lifestyle. Following a later career change, she relocated to England, where she is now based in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
Sandrine has a natural affinity for landscape painting, drawn to wild places that feel like her true habitat. Working primarily in oil on board, she values the medium’s richness and tactile qualities. Her practice continues to evolve through experimentation, guided by both her imagination and her own photography.
With a strong environmental awareness, she often reuses and repurposes materials, embracing the beauty of imperfection. Weathered boards and visible flaws become integral to her work, adding depth and character. Her material choices are thoughtful and deliberate, reflecting a commitment to both sustainability and personal wellbeing.
A self-taught artist, Sandrine has nurtured her passion for art since childhood, exploring drawing and painting as instinctive forms of expression. She continues to follow this intuitive approach in developing her authentic voice.
For Sandrine, painting is a language beyond words—a way to express emotion and perspective through colour, line, and gesture.
