Paul Bartlett

Paul Bartlett is a self-taught mixed media artist whose work is inspired by the beauty, character and complexity of the natural world. Drawing on a lifelong fascination with wildlife, he combines collage, papier mâché, acrylic paint and a rich variety of textured materials to create distinctive, layered artworks that celebrate the animals and landscapes he loves.
Alongside his artistic career, Paul holds a PhD in animal behaviour, bringing a deep understanding of his subjects to every piece he creates. His work has earned widespread recognition, including election to the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA), where he received both the Artist of the Year award and the Langford Press Award at the Society’s annual exhibition at London’s Mall Galleries.
Paul has been a three-time category winner and overall runner-up in the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year competition, and won the British Birds category in the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year awards. His work has been featured in numerous art publications and books.
He has exhibited extensively throughout the UK, with major solo exhibitions alongside regular appearances at the Mall Galleries in London. Internationally, his work has been showcased in solo exhibitions in the United States, France and Poland.
Painting full time allows Paul to immerse himself in the landscapes and wildlife that continually inspire his work. Whether exploring mountains, coastlines or remote wilderness, time spent outdoors informs both his artistic practice and his connection to the natural world. He lives in Tayport, Scotland, with his partner and their three children.
