Karen Risby is a ceramicist and jewellery designer whose work combines delicate porcelain with narrative illustration. Originally from London, she graduated from Camberwell College of Art in 1994 and worked in South London for a number of years before relocating to Suffolk, where she established her studio in 2010.
Her jewellery is created using fine white porcelain, onto which she hand-paints detailed imagery, often set within silver. Drawing on themes of nature, mythology, and storytelling, her pieces carry a quiet, lyrical quality, with each design suggesting a small, self-contained narrative.
Risby’s work reflects a balance between craftsmanship and illustration, resulting in jewellery that is both tactile and evocative.
