Jennifer Pettigrew

Jennifer Pettigrew’s work has evolved and become increasingly abstract over the years. While a love of nature and colour has always remained at the heart of her practice, her recent work reflects a changing perspective and a growing interest in the overlooked and unexpected.
Drawing inspiration from broken objects, torn paper, bars, stones and weathered surfaces, Jennifer finds beauty and significance in everyday materials and forms. Her work invites viewers to pause, look closely and consider these subjects for their own intrinsic value.
Jennifer studied at Edinburgh College of Art and went on to teach in both Fife and Edinburgh. Following her retirement as Head of Art and Design at The Mary Erskine School, she devoted more time to travel and painting, drawing inspiration from the colours, textures and patterns she encountered along the way.
An artist of wide-ranging interests, Jennifer has worked across numerous disciplines, including painting, clay, ceramics and printmaking, continually exploring new materials and creative possibilities. She now lives and works in Pittenweem, Fife.
