Jac Seery Howard is a painter and multidisciplinary artist based on the Durham coast. After a 30-year career in art education, she now works full-time on her own practice.
Inspired by the region’s distinctive geology and industrial history, her work explores a sense of place through a range of media including drawing, painting, printmaking, and textiles. Experimentation with materials is central to her approach, allowing her to create layered works that reflect time, observation, and memory. Drawing remains a fundamental part of her practice, underpinning both her figurative and more abstract work.
Artist Statement:
“It does me good to strip away all the complicated materials and processes and get into the life studio with only a model paper and brushes. Drawing involves looking, looking helps you see, and seeing evokes wonder”
