Artist Statement:
Through Mixed media, glass and print Carole’s approach is intuitive and abstract. Her love of the creative process and quality materials are fundamental to her practice. She combines complex contemporary themes with meditative mark making, responding emotionally and instinctively to critically endangered species, deforestation and environmental injustice.
Pattern holds a therapeutic role in her practice, offering both comfort & defence against trauma. Through layering & the use of bold colour, she creates spaces where she can focus on sentient beings that are routinely & tragically exploited. The essence of a white rhino, shark or trophy lion is embedded within the work, often hiding in plain sight.
