Adam Frew is a Belfast-born potter based in rural Northern Ireland, working from his studio in Aghadowey, Co. Derry. He specialises in porcelain, creating both functional ware and large one-off pieces distinguished by bold, gestural decoration and a restrained palette.
He studied at Belfast Art College, with formative periods at Winchcombe Pottery and in Finland with Judy Mäkelä, before undertaking a two-year apprenticeship with Lisa Hammond in Greenwich. After 12 years as resident potter at Flowerfield Arts Centre, he established his own purpose-built studio, where he now works and teaches.
