Our plant Mail Order service operates 12 months of the year sending out boxes or pallets of hardy, rare and unusual plants most of which are grown here on site and for many of which we are the sole provider as listed in the RHS Plant Finder.
We deliver across mainland UK (excluding Ireland & Channel Islands)
DESPATCH & DELIVERY
We normally send mail order plants from September through to the end of June – weather depending
We aim to dispatch orders within approximately one week, although during particularly busy periods this may take a little longer.
Orders are usually dispatched on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
We may delay dispatch during periods of particularly severe weather, such as extreme cold, frost, heat or drought, where sending the plants could put their health at risk.
We use a next day delivery service however please allow up to 2 days for your order to arrive as this can be dependent on your locality and local courier depot.
Delivery to the Highlands, islands & remote areas are often a 2–5-day service. We use a courier service for most deliveries.
We offer a boxed mail order service for plants up to 2m tall, which usually runs from September to end of June.
For larger orders and plants up to 2.4m we offer pallet delivery, which is available all year. Prices will be calculated on an individual basis. Please note that pallet deliveries are kerbside only
PACKAGING
We use as much recycled and recyclable packaging as possible. Plants are carefully packed to give them the best possible journey, although a little movement or some minor leaf loss can occasionally occur during transit.
DELIVERY & SAFE PLACES
A signature may be required when your plants are delivered unless you have given the courier or us permission to leave the parcel in an agreed safe place, such as a greenhouse or porch.
If you ask for a parcel to be left in a safe place, you acknowledge that you have chosen not to receive the goods personally at the time of delivery, therefore please make sure the location is secure and suitable for protecting plants from weather and other potential damage.
DAMAGED PARCELS
We take great care when packing our plants, but unfortunately parcels can occasionally be damaged during delivery.
If your parcel arrives damaged, please take photographs of the packaging and plants and contact us as soon as possible at:
Please include your full name and order number.
There is no need to refuse delivery simply because the outside of the parcel looks damaged. If the plants themselves have been damaged, please let us know and we will work with you to put things right.
Please keep the packaging until we have advised you what to do, as the courier may need to inspect it.
LARGE PLANTS
Unfortunately, we are unable to send plants over 2.4 metres tall through our standard mail order service.
If you are interested in a larger plant, please contact us before ordering and we will see whether an alternative delivery arrangement can be made.
Collect In Store
We operate a click and collect service if you are visiting the nursery (please choose this option during checkout)
SENDING PLANTS ABROAD
Unfortunately, due to the additional plant-health requirements and paperwork involved following Brexit, we are currently unable to send plants to European destinations or other countries outside the UK.
We are sorry to our many European customers who we have supplied over the years and hope this may change in the future.
We are a proper nursery and care for our plants; we constantly go through all our stock and during certain times of the year plants are re-potted, so they remain healthy for the whole season. Some of our stock has been grown in the ground and then potted so there may be times of the year when they haven’t fully grown into their pots. Many of our plants will have been pruned back to send out, especially perennials- this is normal. If you do not wish to receive these please ask before ordering.
Trees have become increasingly difficult and expensive to send out and often do incur surcharges. Each order is dealt with on an individual basis so you may be contacted if there are extra costs. It is often more economical to send out on a pallet, especially if there are 2 or more trees- but we will notify you if this is the case.
Our carriage prices used to be based upon weight alone but sadly this is no longer the case. The couriers volumise all parcels to work out a volumetric price making it very difficult to give an exact price before measuring the box and weight. We are currently absorbing the increase in costs but with increasing fuel surcharges due to the world situation we are continuing to monitor the situation.

There is a minimum Plant order of £19.99 value for any mail-order delivery – excluding carriage
Smaller orders are sent out in boxes on a two day delivery service and large orders which we send out on pallets =usually go on a 3 day delivery service, this can be upgraded to next day if necessary.
Orders are accompanied by a customer feedback card so we can gauge just how successful our mail order department is. As our Mail Order manager says: “We endeavor to give a really good service all-round, so people are happy not only with the goods they receive but the way they have been dealt with by my department. I believe people are more likely to re-order if they have been dealt with in an efficient, friendly manner.”
