A vividly coloured variant on the species, discovered at Mount Congreve in Co. Waterford. Aromatic, leathery leaves- pale yellow green flushed shrimp pink and edged in crimson. Clusters of small greenish yellow flws, Apr-May. Dark red-black fruits. Ht 3-4ft (90-120cm). Best grown in sheltered woodland conditions. Slow growing. Humus-rich, moist but well drained soil, preferably neutral or acid.
