A small garden tree that produces large, rounded crab apples, bright red in colour with pronounced calyces giving the appearance of Rosehips, hence the name. Single white flowers in spring followed by the beautiful, juicy red apples that cover the tree in autumn. Flws attractive to bees. Fruits are ideal for making crab apple jelly due to their size and good levels of pectin. Easily grown and suited to most conditions, growing well in moist, well-drained soils. Ht 5 x 4 m in 20 years.
