First recorded in 1862, it is still one of the best cooking apples. Easy to grow, large green apples cooks to a sharp fluffy puree. Compact tree. Good pollinator for Bramley. Heavy cropper, ripening its first fruit in August, and keeping well for 2-3 months. A very hardy tree, with good resistance to scab. Self fertile, but bears a heavier crop if there is another pollinator nearby. AGM. Flowering group 3. Grown on M116- a new rootstock similar to MM106 but produces a slightly smaller tree (although larger than M26). It was developed in the 1960s from MM106 crossed with M27. Ht 3m in 10 years.
These trees have been grown in the ground and potted Nov 2025, please note they will not be fully rooted in their pots until Spring/ Summer 2026 but can be planted straight out through the dormant period.
