A rare, evergreen holly found growing in the wild on the Canary Isles. Has very large oval green, spineless green leaves upto 20cm. Smooth grey bark. White waxy flowers. Once established produces striking bright red berries en masse along the length of the branches in autumn. Needs a male pollinator. Ht 3-4m. Ideal in woodland gardens, requires shelter from strong wind.
