Ilex meserveae ‘Gentle’

A compact and slow growing variety of blue holly. Evergreen leaves, undulated, richly serrated at margins but not thorny, mid green with purple hues. Very glossy foliage, stems are burgundy red or reddish-brown. It is a male variety that serves all blue hollies and most of other female hollies as a good pollinator. It flowers abundantly in spring with white flowers. Ht 2-3ft. Any reasonable soil, prefers it slightly acidic. Sun or part shade. Hardy to -25 ºC.
