A very early spring flowering species camellia that is native to the island of Taiwan. The pink-tipped buds open into clusters of small, scented, white flowers, Dec/March. Bronze-coloured new growth in spring. Small evergreen leaves and an elegant, upright habit. Once established, it will cope with the harshest of winters in the south of England, but provide some protection in more northern areas. Ht 2-3m. Part shade, sheltered site. Acid to neutral soil.
