Richard Wilson
Our first show of the year features a welcome splash of colour with a collection from Potter Richard Wilson. His thrown and slab made jugs bottles and vases are inspired by the light, sea and landscape of his home on the World Heritage Dorset coast. The designs on traditional shapes are strong and abstract, finished with bright glazes to enhance the jubilance of the painted strokes. Richard has worked in New Zealand, Australia and Germany and has many influences including Eastern European and English slipware. He studied the traditions and techniques of Michael Cardew, mixing those strengths and subtleties with his own exuberant style.
