Ficus carica ‘Panache’ also known as the tiger fig is an ancient variety recorded in history as far back as 1668. This self fertile tree produces small green flowers in late spring followed by unusual, brightly striped yellow and green figs with crimson, strawberry flavoured flesh. Fruits ripen Aug-Sept. The architectural, deeply lobed, dark green leaves turn yellow in autumn before falling. (Evergreen in warm gardens). Best grown against a sunny, South/ South-west facing wall. Well drained, neutral to alkaline soil.
